Nodding in consent or otherwise

Yesterday, my elder daughter was trying to teach my younger one the correct way to nod. The younger cannot talk yet, but relies on nodding her head to indicate yes or no. Now, the confusing part could be the direction of her nodding. And this is what the elder was trying to correct. I have worked with quite a few Dutch colleagues, who on visiting india are always confused on what the Indian means by the head nod. There is at least one guaranteed discussion on this. It seems from this post that even we Indian's are not in agreement with what exactly it means :) -  Nodding and Shaking and India I will not even begin to clarify what the correct "Indian" way is. Purely because I do not think that there is a single "Indian" way. People from different places, from India, make different styles. Some individuals even have a bharathnatyam style when they indicate yes/no and then we need to tell our confused Dutch colleague that this was NOT again to be confused with ...

long lost ...

Wow! I had almost forgotten that I even had a blog. Hmm.. I should probably get back to writing something. Do I have the time? Maybe I do, maybe I don't. But I sure need to make the time to put something down. It feels odd that I have not written anything in almost 3 years. Two years and eleven months and nineteen days to be exact. And to think that to put something up regularly was something I wanted to do! Interestingly my last post has Adieu as the theme. I was only saying bye to my previous employment. Did it rub off on my writing as well? It sure feels that way! Strange, strange, strange! Maybe I should title my post as "hello" or something like that. Will it then rub off on my writing?

BBC NEWS | South Asia | Pakistan match fixing is denied : A committee of Pakistan's parliament has summoned the country's cricket captain, coach and manager to discuss new match fixing allegations. "'The nation wants to know how the team lost to Australia,' Jamshed Khan Dasti, chairman of the parliamentary committee, told the BBC. Pakistani cricket has recently been free of match fixing claims He argued that Pakistan deliberately lost in the last group match to prevent India from reaching the semi-finals. Mr Dasti's committee has summoned coach Intikhab Alam, captain Younis Khan and Pakistan Cricket Board champion Ijaz Butt to a meeting on 13 October to clarify the allegations." You have got to be kidding me!!! Aren't there other things in Pakistan that need to be fixed!
